Cleanse Your Body, Change Your Life

Posted by : Cindy Papp

wonder if you need to cleanse. And even if you know you need to cleanse, you might wonder why bother? We live in an industrial society, our bodies are designed to detox on their own, so why do I need to take that extra step?

A complete body cleanse or colon cleanse can help you more ways than you might think. It can help you lose weight, lose fat, gain energy and even regain lost health.

Thousands of people all over the world have found new energy, motivation and confidence after cleansing. The extra energy and confidence gives many people the motivation to find their dream job, create their own businesses and even find their soul mates!

It is a fact that in today’s modern world we come into contact with many foreign chemicals, including pesticides and food preservatives. Research is uncovering the fact that chemicals leached from fast-food packaging go into the food and then our digestive tracts. They wreak havoc by upsetting hormonal imbalance, lowering thyroid function and causing other health problems. These are only a few examples of how toxins affect you.

If you’re not sure you need to do a body cleanse, think about these facts; tap water contains chlorine and perchlorate, both chemicals that can clog your thyroid; many processed foods are made using tap water including breads and cereals; bleach on your clothes and other chemicals in your lotions and deodorants go through your skin and into your blood stream trying to find their way out.

Because we are bombarded with toxins, many of us get into our thirties, start feeling tired, too exhausted to work out and even too tired to cook our own food - and we call it aging. But the being in your thirties or even forties is not old. In fact you should be full of energy, happy and healthy well into your golden years!

You can accomplish all this by doing a body cleanse, also called a colon cleanse. It is a fact of life that our bodies’ are capable of processing only so much at one time. Think of this, if your body could eliminate all waste on its own without help - then you should be able to overeat and not gain weight. Any extra calories that your body doesn’t need are waste.

But the truth is that your body doesn’t get rid of excess waste - it stores it! That’s because your body does get over-burdened, it does need help cleansing, needs help losing weight and needs you to make an effort to keep it healthy.

You can do a body cleanse by eating the right foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and unprocessed proteins including meats, eggs and fish. Drink plenty of water, herbal teas and more water.

Help your body cleanse and colon cleanse by avoiding all junk foods - at least for a while. These foods clog your body, slow your metabolism and cause your body to store fat and gain weight. At the same time they leave you feeling tired, cranky and sluggish, and may leave you with less motivation to get healthy.

Intensify your body cleanse with an herbal cleansing product. These help your body get rid of built up waste that can be in the form of excess weight and excess fat. The herbs can also help your bodies’ natural detoxification process which is needed to process and eliminate chemicals that get into our foods.

Cleansing your body might bring benefits that you thought were out of reach. Many people find they have far more energy than they ever had before cleansing. Many lose weight and lose fat. I had clients who exclaimed they realized they weren’t old - just toxic! You can reap these benefits and many more by helping your body cleanse.

Body Cleanse for Better Health

Posted by : Cindy Papp

Body cleansing and detoxification are popular subjects as our world is becoming more polluted and our foods are more processed. Add to this that people are realizing drugs or pharmaceuticals rarely cure anything and always come with side-effects, especially with long-term use. And along with all this knowledge, we are figuring out that our bodies need help eliminating these waste products.

Many times you may hear that the body is capable of detoxing itself. While this may be true, when the body is over-burdened this job will become more difficult.

A good example of the body not being able to “detox” itself is in the case of excess weight. I once read a “Board Certified Nutritionist” claimed that we don’t have to worry, if we eat something and the body can’t use it, it will simply eliminate what it doesn’t need or use. Unfortunately, science and common sense have proven this is simply not true.

If our bodies were capable of eliminating all waste on its own, then we could easily eliminate excess calories, fat and protein. We would not have to worry about gaining weight if we consume more than our body can use. But we know this is opposite of what reality is.

In fact - if you over eat, your body stores the excess calories that are not used. If you eat too much protein or too many fried foods, your body stores it and you get a mushy or fat appearance.

In addition, biologists know that fat cells store excess nutrients, such as amino acids, that your body doesn’t use. The Centers for Disease Control have found that fat cells store toxins, such as organochlorines, which are a byproduct of pesticides.

Many chemicals, pesticides, flavor-enhancers, and preservatives are added to our foods. These toxins may be in trace amounts which are proven to not harm, but research only tests how one type of toxin in a person’s blood will affect you. The CDC will tell you the average American has 218 toxins in their blood!

It is becoming widely accepted that these many chemicals and preservatives do have adverse effects. They have been linked to Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, cardiovascular disease and even cancers.

We know that some chemicals like perchlorate, common in drinking water, adversely affect the thyroid. Mercury can cause tumors or tremors and many pesticides are banned in the United States (yet we import foods that are treated with them).

These are all valid reasons to be proactive and help your body cleanse. Degenerative disease is prevalent in our society with no end in sight. These diseases don’t just happen. In fact, medical professionals advocate using healthy lifestyle choices as a means of prevention.

You can be pro-active in your health. Being aware of what is happening to your body is the first step to taking charge of your health. Helping your body cleanse or detoxify can be one of your tools to use as a healthy lifestyle choice. It doesn’t cost much to change to a healthy diet and any herbs will probably be less expensive than pharmaceuticals. Here are some pointers to help you get started.

Cleansing is your body’s ability to physically clear built up waste. One way you can help is to take a fiber supplement with herbs that can assist this process. A body cleansing diet is simply eating “clean” by eliminating junk foods and processed foods and replacing them with mainly fruits, veggies and unprocessed proteins.

Detoxification is the body’s ability to kill or neutralize toxins. For example, your body has a gene coded to turn alcohol into water so it can remove it from your system. This is an act of detoxification naturally performed by your body. When a foreign substance is present and your body has no gene encoded, it may store it. A body cleanse can help to eliminate this storage.

It is well know that food can be your first medicine. The nutrients and phytonutrients found in fruits, veggies and proteins help your body build its immune system, keep all your organs strong so they can cleanse and detox and do their jobs. Some herbs and foods even bind with toxins to help remove them from your body.

On the other hand poor food choices can slow or inhibit your body’s natural cleansing and detoxification abilities. And they will not provide the nutrition to make new healthy cells to replace dying, diseased ones.

Try a cleansing or detoxification program and find out for yourself. Take care of your body so it can take care of you. You have nothing to lose but waste.

Body Cleansing For A Healthier Colon And Relief From Constipation

Posted by : Jill Newtran

Did you know that constipation is one of the most widely given reasons for digestive complaints? After many years, the colon can become congested with harmful bacteria and damaging toxins that prevent people from feeling healthy and looking good.

In some cases, an unhealthy, clogged colon can lead to the development of diseases, skin problems, other stomach ailments, hair problems, or a lack of energy and desire to do things. Problems with the colon can weaken the immune system leading to a delay in recuperating from surgery or other medical conditions.

A healthy colon is supposed to eliminate waste materials on a daily basis. When this does not occur, the problem can be related to constipation die to hardened stools. This means that waste products can build up since they are not eliminated properly. The infrequent passing of waste materials can create sluggishness as well as other medical problems.

Fortunately, for people who suffer from constipation, body cleansing can be the answer they are looking for. No harsh chemicals, no prescription medications, and no side effects are connected to this process for relieving constipation. Best of all, you can perform it in the comfortable surroundings of your home.

Plus, in addition to relieving constipation, body cleansing can be an integral part to providing good health. Some of the wide-ranging benefits include relief from bloating, a stronger immune system, regular bowel movements, and a renewed sense of energy.

A change in daily diet and weekly exercise might be all that is needed to relieve constipation. However, when this is not the case, a thorough body cleansing might be called for so that you can eliminate toxin residues and move on to have the benefit of an active, healthier lifestyle.

Adding fiber and water to the diet increases the bulk of the stools leasing to elimination that is more regular. Maintaining an active lifestyle is also important in order to avoid irregularity. Therefore, you should incorporate hobbies or events that will increase your activity level.

Other reasons exist as causes of constipation. Medications that are noted for leading to bouts of constipation include antidepressants, antispasmodics, blood pressure medications, diuretics, anticonvulsants, and certain pain medications. Even if these are at the root of your constipation, a body cleansing can be effective in eliminating it as well as renewing your mental clarity, alertness, health, and vitality.

Detox Diet With Herbal Teas

Posted by : Sandra Kim Leong

When you adopt a detox diet, your aim is to remove toxins from the organs of elimination such as the skin, kidneys, liver, lungs and bowel. In order to obtain geat health, this is an important step that you should not miss. High toxicity in your body can cause stress, a weakened immune system, chronic feelings of fatigue, and signs and symptoms of poor health.

Your body is naturally equipped to eliminate wastes and poisons from the system. Its functioning is enhanced when you go on a detox diet designed to help you remove accumulated waste that got into excessive levels due to the unhealthy foods that you consume, polluted air that you ingest and the chemicals that you expose yourself to.

The use of herbal teas in a detox diet is a time-honoured tradition. You can view herbal teas as high mineral drinks during the time when you cleanse your body. They provide you with lots of energy but save you the trouble of having to eat solid proteins or carbohydrates for fuel. Herbal teas are basically body balancers, and their mild detoxification properties are easy for the body to utilise.

The volatile oils and phenolic compounds in herbs are released by hot brewing water. When taken in small doses during a detox diet, they bathe the tissues with concentrated natural support that promote cell regeneration and release of toxic waste. Generally, you can derive greater effect by taking herbs together than singly.

To get the best results of herbal teas when you detoxify your body, use a non-metallic pot, such as ceramic or earthenware. Stainless steel, although acceptable, is not encouraged; avoid aluminium as it reduces herbal effects and the soft metal could leach into the tea. Pack loose herbs into a small tea ball, and heat about 3 cups of water until it boils. Once you remove the water from heat, add and steep the herbs, covered for twenty-five minutes if you are using a root or bark herbal tea, or ten to fifteen minutes for a leaf or flower herbal tea.

Keep the lid tightly closed during steeping and storage. The volatile oils are the most vital component of the drink. Being volatile, they will escape if left uncovered. Drink teas in small quantities over time rather than all at once, to allow the gradual build-up of the medicinal value in your tissues.

Keep in mind that whether natural or synthetic, each medicine has its own healing properties and purpose. Not using them appropriately can cause untoward effects instead of bringing you desired therapeutic benefits. Spend time reading up on herbs and herbal teas. You would also need to check with a qualified herbalist or your health care provider about using herbal teas in a detox diet for aid in cleansing of toxins.

Everyday Detox: A Natural Approach To Total-body Cleansing

Posted by : Brenda Watson

To rid itself of its toxic burden, the body uses a combination of organs and organ systems collectively dubbed the seven channels of elimination. The lungs, liver, lymphatic system, kidneys, skin, blood and bowel (or colon) work together to filter and eliminate toxin substances and waste, but because of the increasing number of both internal and external toxins to which our bodies are exposed daily, our cleansing organs are often overwhelmed. Fortunately, natural internal cleansing formulas that address each of the seven channels of elimination can support the body’s natural detoxification processes.

Periodic cleansing, coupled with a daily maintenance program, is an essential part of maintaining the body’s overall health. If you have never cleansed before, you may benefit from beginning with a gentle, total-body cleanse formulated specifically for first-time cleansers. Such products generally contain whole herbs, which are milder than deep-cleansing herbal extracts, as well as a blend of enzymes and nutrients to help enhance the absorption of the formulation. More often than not, first-time cleansing formulas will include a gentle colon cleanse to support healthy elimination.

For those familiar with cleansing, an advanced total-body cleanse is often the next step in the detoxification process. However, those with specific concerns may want to begin with a more targeted cleanse that is better suited to their individual needs. Advanced internal cleansing formulas will typically contain concentrated herbal extracts in addition to whole herbs and minerals for a more potent, deep-acting cleanse. They may last up to 30 days and are designed to support the digestive system by promoting healthy, regular bowel movements.

Following a total-body cleanse, targeted internal cleansing formulas are designed to provide support to specific organs or areas of the body. Many experts recommend beginning with a natural kidney cleanse to support kidney, bladder and urinary tract health. While a healthy urinary tract is sterile (bacteria-free), irritation may occur when bacteria from the digestive tract are allowed to grow in the urinary tract and bladder. A blend of whole herbs and minerals is often an effective way to help cleanse the kidneys, bladder and urinary tract. Herbs such as cranberry and uva ursi help fight bacteria and promote a sterile environment, and herbs such as stinging nettle, cornsilk, parsley leaf and dandelion extract provide powerful cleansing support.

Decades of industrial and personal misuse have led to an unfortunate buildup of heavy metals in our environment. The most common are lead, mercury and arsenic, which have been used for centuries in everything from paint to pressure-treated wood, and which can cause serious health problems if allowed to accumulate in the human body. Targeted cleansing formulas that contain a combination of herbs, vitamins, minerals and amino acids may provide effective support by assisting the body’s natural cleansing processes.

Your body’s largest internal organ, the liver performs countless functions that are essential to overall health. It filters toxins from one liter of blood every minute and processes toxins and waste before they are sent to the kidneys and colon for elimination. In addition to following a healthy diet and drinking plenty of water, a targeted internal cleansing formula designed to support the liver can significantly benefit this vital organ. A targeted liver cleanse that contains a combination of herbs, antioxidants and amino acids can help support healthy liver detoxification.

Because a build-up of toxins and waste in the body can create an opportune environment for parasites to grow and thrive, a cleansing formula that specifically targets parasites is the next step in an effective overall detoxification program. According to the Centers for Disease Control, roughly 76 million people contract parasites from food every year, and scientists estimate that half of the world’s population will be infected with some type of parasitic infection by the year 2025. A beneficial cleansing formula that targets parasites should include a broad spectrum of herbs and nutraceuticals designed to support a healthy balance of intestinal microbes. Enzyme supplements may also help break down foods that can provide food for nourishment for parasites if left undigested.

Maintaining a healthy bacterial balance in your intestines is essential to your health, as nearly three-quarters of your immune system is located in your digested tract. Ideally, there should be approximately 80% good bacteria and 20% percent harmful bacteria in your intestines. However, factors such as diet, stress, illness, and exposure to toxins can affect that healthy environment can result in yeast overgrowth, which can lead to a variety of health issues. That’s why a cleansing formula that focuses on supporting a beneficial balance of intestinal flora plays a key role in total-body detoxification. Choose a cleanse made with natural ingredients (such as uva ursi, neem leaf and olive leaf) that is designed to be taken in harmony with your normal daily activity.

Finally, because your body works constantly to cleanse itself of toxins, a daily cleansing formula designed to assist all seven channels of elimination and promote healthy digestion is the last step in a comprehensive total-body detoxification program. Rather than providing a purgative effect, such daily formulas offer gentle, nutritive assistance. An ideal daily cleanse should include herbs, nutraceuticals, antioxidants and amino acids, as well as beneficial enzymes to enhance the absorption of the natural ingredients.

While exposure to harmful chemicals may be unavoidable in an increasingly toxic world, there are ways in which you can combat toxins and support your body’s natural detoxification processes. The right internal cleansing products, combined with a healthy diet and exercise, can be the first step toward a lifetime of good health.

Total Body Cleansing Supports Detoxification And A Weight Loss Plan

Posted by : Cassandra Cox

A question commonly asked by dieters is, “What can I do to support my healthy weight?” As a digestive care educator, my simple answer to that question is “cleanse & detoxify!” Simple dietary changes such as adding more fiber, and seasonal colon cleansing can help you promote regularity & associated weight loss.

Colon cleansing is often the first thing we think about when we hear the words cleansing and detoxification. Everyday at work I speak with countless individuals who have reaped the benefits of undergoing even the simplest form of colon cleanse.

Think of it this way, if your digestive system is a long tube that flows one-way, then we must prevent occasional constipation from stopping up the works and causing excess retention. Indeed, if your bowels are irregular, then where is all that undigested & constipated food going? So, improve digestion & eliminate constipation, and you will encourage your body to naturally shed excess weight.

According to digestive expert & colon therapist, Brenda Watson, constipation can also lead to “autointoxication,” which her book ‘Essential Cleansing for Perfect Health” defines as “poisoning, or the state of being poisoned, from toxic substances produced within the body.” Brenda maintains that impaired digestion allows harmful microbes in the digestive tract to act on undigested food. She continues the argument by stating that faulty elimination can then allow these toxins to seep from the intestinal tract into the circulatory system, where they can cause numerous hazards to the body.

In her newest book, The Fiber35 Diet, Ms Watson shares with us the ‘detoxification factor’. She reminds us that toxins can slow down our metabolism, decrease our ability to burn fat, and even slow down the time it takes to feel full. So, if our goal is to lose weight, then we are encouraged to cleanse and detoxify.

To cleanse naturally, the colon is helped by our consumption of fiber, which promotes regularity and absorbs excess toxins, eliminating them in a healthy bowel movement. Sadly, few Americans are getting the quantity of fiber needed to promote a healthy colon. The American Dietetic Association recommends that adults consume 20-35 grams of fiber every day for optimal health. Most of us are lucky if we consume 12-15 grams of fiber in our average diet. Since our body is not getting the nutritional support it needs to successfully cleanse, then it is unable to eliminate and detoxify properly.

Additionally, even if you consume a fairly healthy diet, our bodies are still being assaulted everyday by toxins and chemicals from the environment. Car exhaust, heavy metals, pesticides, off-gassing from carpets and plastics, even DDT from formerly contaminated soil are all serving to add to the toxic burden that is slowly poisoning our bodies.

There are many cleansing products on the market. When purchasing a program, experts recommend choosing one that addresses your body as a system, because a healthy body will cleanse and detoxify utilizing the seven channels of elimination: liver, lungs, lymphatic system, kidneys, skin, blood, and bowel. You want to be sure that you are giving each organ the support it needs to do its job.

Be sure to take in adequate fiber while cleansing. You’ll also want to make sure your bowels are moving regularly. Conducting a periodic total body cleanse will help your body to relieve itself of the extra burden. Partner this with a healthy lifestyle, such as what goes hand in hand with weight management and you will have the greatest success.

Detoxification With The 3-day Detox Diet

Posted by : Denise Duncan

Today is it hard to avoid having toxins and chemicals in our system because of our lifestyles and the environment. However, our bodies are quite remarkable and have been built in such a way as to protect itself from these harmful intruders. Although our kidneys, liver, skin, and even the lungs often need to work a little harder to separate, neutralize, and dispose of these toxins. When toxins accumulate in our body it causes a release of some form of chemical. This can gradually mutate into cancers or other degenerative diseases of the body.

We need to be selective as to what we put into our bodies because we can never take it back. Sometimes changing your lifestyle is the only way you can improve the proper functioning of your body processes. A detox program can be very helpful in getting rid of body impurities. As with any detoxification program, they are designed to flush out free radicals, increase cell renewal, and strengthen your body’s immune system. Ridding your body of toxins will make you feel so much better. Even the 3-day detoxification diet can help in eliminating damaging toxins.

There are many detox diets our there. One must realize that not all detox diet programs are suitable for everyone. A 3-day detox diet just might be wise to start with to test the diet program and it is also a milder way of detoxifying your body. If you are interested in a longer detox program you may want to consult your doctor first before you begin. This is especially important if you are underweight, malnourished or have a chronic disease such as cancer, kidney and liver disease, ulcerative colitis, iron-deficiency, anemia, as well as others. This is always a good idea when considering any type of diet program.

As mentioned above, there are various detox diets, however, the 3-day detox diet is a good quick start program toward detoxification. Each morning for the three days drink a cup of warm water and ½ lemon squeezed in it when you get up. This is to stimulate your gastric juices. Drink the lemon water instead of your usual cup of coffee or tea. When planning your meals for the day you should include one cup of whole grains like brown rice, buckwheat, amaranth, and at least three servings each of fruits and vegetables. One of the servings of vegetables, at least, should be raw vegetables such as carrots, celery, or cauliflower. Choose the vegetables you enjoy. You could also fix yourself a salad made of fruits and vegetables. However, for dressing your salad, use vinegar or any of the natural virgin oils. Natural oils can include olive, coconut virgin oils, or fish oil.

In addition to the changes in your meals you will also need to take two doses of a kidney and liver tonic over the 3-day detox diet period. Not two doses a day. Just two doses over the three days you’re trying to detoxify your body. You can choose from the following kidney and liver tonics: two cups of dandelion, a clove of fresh garlic, chamomile or fennel tea. Other choices include pure vegetable juice like carrot or beetroot, a medium bunch of black grapes, or two cups of parsley or yellow tea. On a daily basis you will need to drink 8 glasses or more of water as well. It’s a good idea to make this a habit anyway. Fresh fruit juices such as apple and orange can be counted as part of your water intake. And lastly, before you go to bed drink a cup of herbal tea. The whole idea is to increase your fluid intake by ingesting more water, juices, fruits, and vegetables to flush out harmful toxins and waste.

As part of your 3-day detox diet be sure to include a 30-minute walk within the program period. Exercise with any diet is ideal for weight loss and improved health. After the third day, you will feel rejuvenated and have more energy and should have dropped a few pounds. You may want to do the 3-day detox diet again either consecutively or the following month. To have better health for the rest of your life, a change of lifestyle is always better than a few days of dieting.
